I decided to start with a series of headcanons for the wonderful men of Voltage’s ‘Dreamy Days in West Tokyo’. I think that sets him apart from other flirty characters and makes him really endearing.Over the last few days I have been having a stab at flexing my creative muscles by trying my hand at some headcanon writing for some of my favourite Voltage characters. I think the thing that really made it for me though is that even though he’s the flirty type, he was never just being flirty. The flashbacks are cute, and Rihito is a really fun and dynamic character. There’s so much to like about this route. MC was oblivious and was actually the cause of it! It was so adorable and so hilarious that I couldn’t help but laugh. Every time she calls him a girl, he tears up. It’s true, but in the flashback chapters, it’s always the MC that makes him cry. One of my favorite things is how Rihito was known as a crybaby. Her support helps Rihito realize he needs to be more honest with people, including his mother. She never doubts him, and she always supports him, even when others don’t. The MC really helps Rihito mature into the guy he is too. He has always and is still always thinking about her. Once you realize this, you can see how he’s pretty much always loved the MC, and everything he’s said to her has been the truth. In reality, he’s a really mature and thoughtful guy. But he also really cares about his mom, so he goes along with what she says because he thinks that is what will make her happy. Rihito does love playing piano, but he wants to use it to make others happy. She raised him on her own, and she wants him to have the success that she couldn’t. His mom’s not a bad person though, and Rihito understands that. He acts like things are no big deal so he can hide all that he’s dealing with.

His mom wants him to become a professional pianist, and she goes to extremes to make sure he stays serious about it. Rihito is dealing with a lot of pressure. He learned to hide his feelings and joke around in order to give people what they want. He’s serious about her from the very beginning.
His flirting with her isn’t a joke though.
He does play around with girls, and he never gets serious with them. She thinks he’s a womanizer, so she doesn’t take all his teasing and flirting seriously. He’s comfortable talking to girls, and all the girls like him. When the MC returns 10 years later and starts to hang out with Rihito again, she realizes he’s changed. At the time, he was kind of a crybaby, and he always stuck close to the MC. When they were young, the MC thought he was a girl, and no matter what anyone said, she never realized he was a boy. Rihito is a layered guy, kind of like the route itself.
